Top 5 movies to watch this week

Well, having to stay inside for a whole year because of Covid-19 and every now and then, I guess you have watched everything on Netflix and Disney. But, some of us did not see all the movies so I am here to help you pick out the best movies from my personal movie gallery i.e., Netflix and Disney. Let’s get this show on road:

  1. The Adam Project

First on the list is The Adam Project. Who does not love Ryan Reynolds at this moment? From his picture perfect portray of comical Deadpool into real character to cameo in best movies, he has been loved by the fans worldwide. Here is a new, nearly 2 hours of fun for the family (Warning: Has Ryan Reynolds). Bringing to you a film that plays with time itself, with some best cast including Mark Ruffalo, Walker Scobell, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener and many more others. The movie shows everyone’s favourite topic, time-travelling. It has a lot of comedy and futuristic actions. When Adam Reed crash-lands in 2022, he joins up with himself to save the future he currently is from. Well, it’s all tangled but you will get to it once you watch it.

The movie revolves around Adam Reed trying to save his father from a timeline way to past but crash lands in 2022 causing him to meet his younger self and reflect at his past life and actions. The movie shows how any actions how simple they may be will affect the future. While trying to solve the problem, Adam gets a chance to meet his father, and learns to accept the reality with his younger self. It mostly is categorized as past meets future. The film is full of comedy scenes with family values and realities. So, we can categorize it as a family movie with a twist of comedy, action and adventure.

Rating: 4 out of 5

  1. Free Guy

I know it’s just Ryan Reynold‘s movies but I can’t help it. He is my favourite actor. I will try not to be biased so that’s a lot to sacrifice, I think. Here is another fun movie for those (me) who said games were not being represented much in movies. Free Guy is a full packed comedy, action movie that tells the story from the angle of the NPCs. Free City is a most popular game where as the name suggests you can do anything. Living a repetitive life, NPC Guy feels that life should me more and feels strongly after he meets his dream girl, a human player. The movie then takes into a funny dramatic gaming world exploring and telling why the codes are all acting weird and also how important the NPCs are, I guess.

If you are a gamer, you will feel how important are the NPCs and why you shouldn’t keep killing them. But there is a lot of fun, adventure and action along with a lot of weird references that most people get I hope, because they are damn funny. With top cast including Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Lil Rey Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and even Channing Tatum making cameo here and there, this movie packs the punch to allow you to let loose from your work load.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for fun

  1. Yaksha Ruthless Operations

Well time to go international. If you are into thriller movies that involves a bit of fighting, shooting, torture and detectives with a Korean twist then this a perfect movie. A little to the dark side and wrong alleys, this movie is well built to give a sight on how difficult a life of a detective can be. More if you are nicknamed as “Yaksha” giving a meaning as a devil himself, you are going to have difficulty dealing with some high-class thugs or moreover a cross world of detectives from separate countries. The movie is a struggle of a prosecutor losing his job and immediate position to people in power and his uprising taking a dangerous route. Prosecutor Han Ji-Hoon goes to record and report the action of the director of the National Intelligence Service’s overseas branch to main office while he constantly battles with the black team for ethical and moral legality of their action.

Movie shows how detectives are on brink to make ethical and moral choices at every step to keep their country safe from threats. With all power cast including Sol Kyung-gu, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Jinyoung Park, Soo-kyung Lee and many more, the movie shows how the world functions away from our eyes. If you are into thriller and suspense this weekend, its a great movie to watch.

  1. Badla

International again!!!! This time we move to our beloved Bollywood. Badla is a crime thriller movie with a suspense that will twist everyone’s thinking and leave you amazed at the end of it. Please don’t just skip to the end. It’s more fun as it involves murder, suspects and lawyers fighting. An official adaptation of the Spanish film “The Invisible Guest”, the movie is not unpredictable but keeps you guessing for a lot of other reasons. Story progresses when a top businesswoman Naina is accused of murdering her lover while she seeks help from a professional lawyer Badal Gupta to defend her.

With a twisted story and a bit of a cat and mouse chase as quoted by IMDb’s top review, the lawyer tries to confront Naina to open up and tell everything that happened so that he can prove her innocence and defend her. While Naina walks her lawyer through the story, the lawyer tries to determine and unwind the truth. With cast including but not limited to Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Amrita Singh, and others the movie is full of thrill and suspense to rack up your brains perfectly.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 for being an adaptation

  1. Encanto

Well not exactly international and not a “live action” movie but we all love animation and Encanto is at the top of my animated movies list right now. Encanto is one of the best movies that Disney has produced. It has magick, family, drama, suspense and “Bruno”. It also has a lot of songs as usual of the Disney movies and quite nice ones at those. Telling story of the beautiful village protected by the extraordinary family, The Madrigals, Mirabel the protagonist to the story struggles to keep up with her family of gifted people while she receiving no gift of magical power. It shows the values and morales of family and how generational gap can create a drift if there is no understanding between members.

Even with no magic, Mirabel wants to support her family as much as she can and knowing that the family and house is in danger she goes against all odds to save it. It shows how everyone has their value and duties and why families need to stick together. Walt Disney really put the message through with a bit of magic, lots of songs and best cast of Stephanie Beatriz, Maria Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro castillo, Jessica Darow, Angie Cepeda, and much more. Mixing Spanish in with a bit of magic is always a great way to keep viewers captivated.
