People and Gamers (Yep, they are different), say you stick to one platform and live up to it. Either Xbox or PS4, but I (proudly) go against that and play on any platform I get chance to. It’s a bit difficult transition but once you get hang of it, it is awesome. I have played so many games that I can barely remember and I will let you know that I am more inclined to Action, Adventure and Open World Games but I casually enjoy other genres as well. So please let me know which games you enjoy as well. Without more gossip let’s get started with the list:
- Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V)
Well as one of the most awaited games, GTA V did deliver to a high level of expectation. From the storyline to the graphics, gameplay and even the online world, GTA V did deliver to meet up the high level of expectation. One of the best things about the game is the inclusion of the three different character which you can play interchanging while in the game. Even if there are three different characters, Rockstar has done a great job at providing each character the individuality and own storyline. You won’t feel like missing anything while playing as each character. Let’s get specific to the GTA games:
- Weapons: Well, what is a GTA without weapons. It has all of the weapons from previous games in the series and some more as well. It is as modern a game can get at the time of release. You get to equip different wheels in different categories from close combat weapons to long range snipers.
- Cars and vehicles: With the name Grand Theft Auto, one of the most amazing characteristics of the game is vehicles. There are cars from and for all generations. From cars, bikes, scooters and even planes you can enjoy the life of a thief or a millionaire or both. Either steal it from someone, or just buy it from your phone, the game offers several ways to attain the assets.
- Gameplay and Map: Last but not least is the free world structure. The map is based on US cities like in previous games including Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Southern California, etc. The map is not infinite but is wide and full of different landmarks. Also, includes several in game sports and challenges which makes gameplay even more amazing.
- Available platforms: Xbox, PS and PC
Last but not least, players did love the online features a lot and more over they loved online heists that can be done with group of friends. People enjoyed various mods and gameplay options. Choose how you want to play and just go on with it.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2)
Another amazing game from Rockstar is Red Dead Redemption 2. We won’t get much into awards and reviews of different gaming industries but it is one of the best games there is. Taking eight years to develop the game, Rockstar sure took their sweet time and skill to develop the game. There can be no complain to game itself. Graphically I love it more than GTA V itself. Perfect storyline, widest maps, different in game challenges and mini missions, horses and wild wild west feel. There is nothing more to ask. Let’s follow the same description as above then:
- Weapons: Well, you will love the weapon wheel as you use from something as primal as Bow and arrow to a sniper gun of the age. Set in 1899 the game portrays the weapons used at the time well. Favourite being the “Lasso” is a great weapon. Capture the enemies or just drag them around (if you are cruel), it’s always fun while riding the horse. You have access to almost all weapons like any wild west gunmen would have had.
- Transportation: You have horses so I didn’t even used anything else than horse-related. Well partially because automobiles are a rare commodity at this era. You have carts, stagecoaches, boats, canoe, wagons and even trains. Horses are as main as the main character and you can’t help but love your beast since you can upgrade it to the max, train and pet it. Realistic enough as it is, your horse has limitations, needs and loyalty. Take care of the horse or else you can die in a gunfight or lose an enemy.
- Gameplay and Map: With map bigger than the GTA V itself, RDR2 does not disappoint in the field of open world feel. Since you are getting around in horse and are surrounded by hills and mountains and swamp and industrial cities, it feels much bigger while you play the game. Story is great and the best thing about it is the epilogue. It’s always great to know what exactly happened after the end and you will most definitely enjoy it like I did. Epilogue is set in 1907 so we get to see how characters have progressed as well.
- Available platforms: Xbox, PS and PC
Like GTA V, RDR2 does provide a multiplayer option online but since I am more of an offline story mode solo player, I have yet to try RDR2 online but with reviews flowing from around the globe, I believe the online gaming is much more fun as well.
- God of War
Truthfully it is a God of War IV, as a sequel to God of War III but the name feels so right as it is nothing like its prequel but feels like a completely different game. For those who played the prequels, you all know what happens when you anger the Olympian God of War, Kratos. But here as the God settled as a common man away from his realm takes on a new journey with his son to provide a proper burial to his wife, displays strength, action and knowledge like no others. Having seen all and done with his revenge, Kratos travels to the realm of the Norse gods and now is a part of Norse mythology. With gods being arrogant and unkind as ever, Kratos discovers, fights and kills any who stand in his journey accompanied by his godly son Atreus. Developer left no stones unturned and gave the best graphical and gameplay experience ever. Now it’s time to conquer Asgard. Midgard and any other realms in Norse Mythology.
The weapons varying from Leviathan Axe, Blade of Chaos, Arrows and Magic and a lot of rage, the weapons are all overpowered or say godly. Enemies are far stronger than one we faced earlier and storyline keeps on elongating. Map is whole of the World Tree with some realms blocked by “All Father – ODIN” himself. You meet Freya, Baldur, Magni and Modi (Sons of Thor), Mimir and the world serpent itself, you meet the gods you only heard of. Beyond that meet dwarves, elves, spirits and ghosts. This time not only gods are your enemies but almost anything you see from creatures that spit fire, trolls, ogres and much more. I can’t even explain all of the fights, enemies, skills and magic. It’s a whole package and that’s why I said it is reincarnation of whole God of War series itself.
- Available platforms: PlayStation and PC
- Uncharted 4 (The Thief’s End)
Not to lie, I have not played any prequels to the series of uncharted but Uncharted 4 is a great action, adventure guided open world game. With a mind-blowing story mode and puzzles and riddles to solve you go on a hunt of one of the greatest treasure known as Avery’s treasure. Following the story and historical study of pirates and their secret life, we go in the hunt of the treasure that is only known in stories. You discover iconic locations with remarkable parkour and free running techniques with skills like combats and rock climbing. The world in the Uncharted 4 is wide and despite not being a completely open-world you have a lot of exploration options. Climbing and exploring seems to be the main target the game developers were looking for and they have undoubtedly achieved it.
Story opens up with Nate’s childhood memory and progresses to show his growth into explorer and treasure hunter. Combats could be better but I think they were not aiming for increasing the combat skills but rather being focusing on the treasure hunting part. You will enjoy exploring the locations and learning about history of pirates. The action sequence is great, I will attach a famous video of best action sequence in the game. The game focuses on stealth mode rather than straight face to face combat. You see beautiful locations, spontaneous driving and action sequence that will keep you entertained for all the time. There is always something interesting to find and explore. And then there is in game play option which I enjoyed quite a bit but never could beat the highest score ever. The epilogue is quite nice as well as you would love the way the game ends. It is a well known fact that a game is great when there is a movie about it.
- Available platforms: PlayStation and PC
- Halo Series
One of the best games on Xbox to play is Halo series. I heard about the game late myself so I played it late. The whole halo series is quite a long series and the first games are more focused on strategic, action rather than first person shooting and action adventure games. The Halo Masterchief collection and the games in later of the series are quite amazing and with the new upcoming game Halo Infinite, the craze has gone to hype. The game is designed to show space exploration and how different societies and colonies of humans and aliens will live together if the space is ever filled with both lives. You play as special soldiers that fight in war with special apparatus and builds like a super soldier in different planets. Rather than being a straight up open world game, it is a guided shooting game. You can even play as an alien in the series and shows how and why the primordial aliens or lives hid the weapons.
The series just keeps going and there is always something to do. Either jump from the tower or play with gravity, there is always something. Ride in The M12 Force Application Light Reconnaissance Vehicle or Warthog or any of the alien flying discs and shoot your way through. The best part of the game is you can kill all you see and there is a team of professionals behind you as well. See the surrounding and keep following the command of chief commander. There are various weapons each differing from what the human armies use and what the aliens use. There are various terms referring to all alien commanders and soldiers as well as humans but i want you to know it yourself by playing it.(I forgot the terms as I played it about 2 yrs ago.) Nevertheless, it is one of the best games to play on Xbox.
- Available platforms: Xbox and PC
Well these are the best games to play on different platforms. There are other games as well like my all time favourite Call of Duty game and other racing games like Dirt Race, Rally Race, Moto GP, and much more. The games listed above are my best games and would love to play time and again. They have best storyline, action sequence, graphics and gameplay. Do tell me if there are some other games to play under similar categories and tell me about your xperience while playing the above mentioned games. Have a great gaming time.
